THE CATENA COMPANY JOINS THE AIGC
AMERICAN INDIAN PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION AS 2008 MEMBER

Marietta, GA, JANUARY 28, 2008: The Catena Company and its President, Curtis J. Norvell (Comanche Nation of Oklahoma) announced today that it has become the newest Member of the AIGC American Indian Professional Association for 2008. The American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC) (www.aigc.com) is still the only national non-profit organization dedicated to aiding Indian graduate students in all fields of study. As a non-profit organization based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the AIGC prides itself on maintaining a very low administrative cost. Ninety percent of all funding contributions leads directly to student services. The Catena Company embraces this careful management of valuable capital resources. The AIGC goal is to improve the cultural and economic well being of American Indians and Native Alaskans, individually and tribally, through graduate education.

Curtis J. Norvell said “it is a great honor to become a new Member of the AIGC Professional Association because this is clearly the most focused funding resource for Native American students seeking graduate education in North America. Many years ago when I was completing my own graduate education, I turned to AIGC for funding. At the time I was completing my graduate education at Emory University, the small amount of scholarship resources which were available through AIGC greatly contributed to my completion of my graduate degree studies. I look back on those days now, and truly understand the value that this organization has brought to so many individuals like me.”

The Catena Company received notification today from Mariana A. Pardo, Assistant Administrator, Office of Certification & Eligibility, U.S. Small Business Administration, that it has been certified as a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) for a three year term ending May 2, 2010. At that time The Catena Company has been encouraged to reapply for certification. Curtis J. Norvell, President of The Catena Company said, “becoming certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration as a SDB has been a long process for our firm. We began the written SDB certification process over 6-months ago, and other Native American firms we have spoken with have endured even longer time frames in order to be certified. But, our firm benefited from our relationship and advice from our local Georgia Tech Procurement Assistance Center. We truly thank everyone there who gave us initial advice about the certification process and helped to guide us through the red-tape.” “This SDB certification legitimizes our minority business standing in our industry and represents a third party qualification and scrutiny sought after for major corporations looking for diversity suppliers.”The Catena Company is a Native American-owned retained executive search firm based in Marietta, Georgia conducting senior level recruiting for domestic and international corporations and the Indian Gaming sector.
